This kids's book series came from France in 1931 and has been a substantial success through the years. Babar is an elephant who ventures far from the jungle when his mother was killed by a Hunter. Babar discovers himself in Paris and discovering about civilization. Upon his return, he is crowned king of an African nation and has his own children. The premise of the stories has Babar taking lessons that he discovered while in Paris and teaching his children right and wrong. There are over 50 books in the Babar series and DVDs from the tv version that aired briefly in the early 1990's.

I'll confess, when I first started checking out the novel, it took me about 30-40 pages before I was connected. Those very first 30-40 pages took me a few weeks and a number of times of sitting down before I made it through them. I didn't discover myself engaged until after those very first pages. As soon as there, I couldn't put the book down. Now, my attention period is brief, so don't blame the book, but offer credit where due: the rest of the book is so interesting that even my attention deficit disorder wasn't an issue.

The series has been around for a few years, but it's still a classic epic fantasy that should be read by every fantasy enthusiast. Forget all the David Eddings crap and opt for this!
Some might discover these ten points a bit 'unpleasant'.
